Here are some pictures from the final crit. Unfortunately the last model is not quite finished because of difficulties with the 3d printer and laser pieces, but it should be done soon.

This final project was a development of the previous project I posted. The site is just south of the downtown loop in Kansas City. The quality of existing buildings in the area is poor to low, and likely to be the next redevelopment in KC. I explored an urban development strategy that would bring retail and residential space back into the city core by establishing a mixed use building plan. Due to physical disconnects (i.e. railroad lines, raised highways, and sunken interstates) this area of KC has become somewhat of a pocket for pedestrian travel. The building strategy addresses this by creating a bridge over such barriers that are occupied by large volume retailers. This would allow pedestrians desirable access to other areas of KC while benefiting retailers with a stream of customers.
