Computer Project - Rhino with VRay

Computer project where we were supposed to model a surface with perforations. I made a surface using a bitmap picture of the tree shadows around rice. Using the same bitmap I created a half tone image in photoshop for the density of perforations. This was really just a way to have some constraints for myself. The project was really about learning some things about the software. I feel like I might be getting better at the computer!!! Also, the teacher is pushing a new rendering program called Brazil? It is pretty good, especially for people like me who are 3ds Max illiterate.

  1. Nice, so you used a displacement map essentially to create the form and a dotted map to create openings? Was that rendered in Vray? I tried getting an ambient occlusion render out of vray but didn't know how?

  2. You should have some nice diagrams with this. I can't wait to get into parametric/generative modeling and start experimenting. This blows form follows function out of the water. Let us know how this develops in your projects.
